Male Wistar rats were trained in one-trial step-down inhibitory avoidance using a 0.4-mA footshock. At various times after training (0, 1.5, 3, 6 and 9 h for the animals implanted into the CA1 region of the hippocampus; 0 and 3 h for those implanted into the amygdala), these animals received microinfusions of SKF38393 (7.5 µg/side), SCH23390 (0.5 µg/side), norepinephrine (0.3 µg/side), timolol (0.3 µg/side), 8-OH-DPAT (2.5 µg/side), NAN-190 (2.5 µg/side), forskolin (0.5 µg/side), KT5720 (0.5 µg/side) or 8-Br-cAMP (1.25 µg/side). Comparative transcriptome analysis of the hippocampus from sleep-deprived and Alzheimer’s disease mice Genet. Mol. Biol.

Abstract We did a comparative analysis of the gene expression profiles of the hippocampus from sleep deprivation and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mice. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified by comparing the transcriptome profiles of the hippocampus of sleep deprivation or AD mouse models to matched controls. The common DEGs between sleep deprivation and AD were identified by the overlapping analysis, followed by Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses. The results showed that a total of 16 common DEGs showed similar change patterns in both sleep deprivation mice and AD mice. For many years, the transient nature of GD has led researchers and physicians to assume that long-term consequences were absent. It has been previously shown that the crude venom of Tityus serrulatus can cause convulsions. This study was designed to investigate the neurotoxic effects of B, C, G, and K fractions isolated from this venom. Intravenous injection of these fractions in mice (0.6 - 6.0 mg/kg body weight) showed that the C fraction is a potent convulsant and G fraction decreased the threshold for tonic hand limb extension elicited by transauricular electroshock. The cartilaginous Structures of the cmbryos of Hippocampus reidi Ginsburg, 1933, were described as well as the beginning of the ossification process in the dentary, angular, retroarticular, operculum, frontal, supraoccipital bonés and neural end hemal arches. The viteline sac is well developed. The results show that cartilaginous structures are predominam in specimens with an average of 4.85 mm in total length.

Myosin Va is an actin-based, processive molecular motor protein highly enriched in the nervous tissue of vertebrates. It has been associated with processes of cellular motility, which include organelle transport and neurite outgrowth. The in vivo expression of myosin Va protein in the developing nervous system of mammals has not yet been reported. We describe here the immunolocalization of myosin Va in the developing rat hippocampus. We studied the effects of infusion of nerve growth factor (NGF) into the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex of male Wistar rats (250-300 g, N = 11-13 per group) on inhibitory avoidance retention. In order to evaluate the modulation of entorhinal and hippocampal NGF in short- and long-term memory, animals were implanted with cannulae in the CA1 area of the dorsal hippocampus or entorhinal cortex and trained in one-trial step-down inhibitory avoidance (foot shock, 0.4 mA). Effects of chronic ethanol treatment on monoamine levels in rat hippocampus and striatum BJMBR

We studied the effects of ethanol on concentrations of noradrenaline (NE), dopamine (DA) and serotonin (5-HT) and their metabolites in rat hippocampus and striatum. Ethanol (2 or 4 g/kg, po, from a 20% aqueous solution) was administered daily to male Wistar rats (4-13 per group) for 30 days and animals were sacrificed 30 min or 48 h after the last administration. Monoamines were measured by HPLC and considered significant at P < 0.05. A 47% increase in 5-HT levels was observed in the hippocampus with 4 g/kg ethanol in the 30-min protocol.
